Some institutes at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) have created repositories for sharing clinical trial data:

  • National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) has a policy that covers IPD sharing at BioLINCC repository
  • National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) has a policy that covers sharing IPD at the NIMH Data Archive
  • National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has a policy that covers sharing IPD at NIDDK Central Repository 
  • National Cancer Institute has created a policy where datasets generated from clinical trials of the National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN) and the NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) can be shared NCTN/NCORP Data Archive

Pharmaceutical companies

Before embarking on a request to a pharmaceutical company, consider whether regulators may hold the data you seek. The EMA, for example, is publishing CSRs and other clinical data for some products on its website and makes others available upon request. See our page on regulatory resources for details.

  • Almirall has a policy that lacks details on what, if anything, the company is committed to sharing. However, submission of a data sharing request is through R&D@almirall.com.

  • GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has a policy that covers CSRs, IPD, and study protocols. Redacted CSRs and protocols are freely available in GSK Study Register (no need to apply, just click to download). In addition, access to less redacted CSRs and IPD can be requested via request through clinicalstudydatarequest.com. IPDs can also be requested through vivli.org
