The Restoring Abandoned and Invisible Trials (RIAT) Support Center is inviting grant proposals from researchers interested in using unpublished clinical trial data to publish clinical trials that are either unpublished or were incompletely reported.

The grant is up to USD $150,000.

In this 2020 competition, we are seeking to fund one project in which the awardee helps improve the scientific literature by ensuring clinical trial publications are accurate, complete, and data are publicly available. Applicants may propose to carry out either of the following:

  • Re-analyze and publish an already published trial that was incompletely reported
Applicants need to show clear evidence of important errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in previously published methods, findings, or conclusions. (Past examples include paroxetine study 329 and celecoxib CLASS study.) Using underlying trial data, applicants would carry out and publish a re-analysis.
  • Publish an unpublished trial
These projects apply to trials that were carried out and completed, but remain unpublished. Using underlying trial data, applicants would carry out analyses and publish the trial.

The deadline for applying is March 2, 2020.

Applications will be adjudicated by an external panel of judges.

Please see the RIAT Support Center website for complete application details, judging/review criteria, and information about completed RIAT restorations and past grant recipients. https://restoringtrials.org/grants/
